Tidal Roots Farm

Sam & Tim started this project at the end of 2017, as hurricanes Irma and Maria nearly destroyed our little islands. As the true roots of all that we continue to do, sustainable practices, access to local food, chemical free all-natural farming techniques, and the connection to nature & our community is what keeps us grounded & pressing on. The truth is, it ain’t for the faint of heart, farming is hard work! Yet, while we still feel driven by the ethics of sustainability & keepin’ it local, this ‘project’ has slowly evolved into simply a lifestyle. We love growing food, feeding community, and raising our daughter Florence on this little patch of hilltop land. With a small crew of amazing employees, lovely loyal customers, and continuous nourishment of our soil, we keep growing.

  • CSA Farm-Share Program

Want to get a selection of freshly picked produce every week? We love our farm-share members! You get the best pick of our garden, every Monday. Monthly commitments & pick up locations in town or at the farm!

  • Custom Orders

Are you looking to provision for your trip, are you a private chef, or looking to get local produce for your restaurant? We take custom orders when we can. Send us a message to see what’s available! We always require a few days notice & pick ups are from the farm only ~ no deliveries.

Volunteer with us!

We have volunteer morning every Thursday from 8 am - 11 am, and we’d love to have you. Spend a few hours in the garden & go home with a bag of fresh goodies!

The Farmer’s Market

The BVI Farmer’s Market is a beautiful small market in the heart of Road Town. Every Saturday, from 8am-3pm, farmers are set up in Sir Olva George’s Plaza across the street from the Road Town Ferry dock.

Stop by, see what’s in season, & support your local farmers & artisans!

What we Grow

  • Starting in September we start sowing seeds, clearing land, and getting ready for another busy season. With fresh beds, minimal weeds, and lots of built up piles of manure from the summer, we usually have pretty good yields by end of October. Herbs grow all year long, but enjoy the rain & cooler weather that autumn brings. Sweet greens enjoy the longer days mixed with cooler weather, and so does peppers & tomatoes.

  • Winter is prime time for growing food here in the Caribbean. While the days are short, the sun is still strong, and the temperatures are cool. The garden thrives, allowing us to grow lots of tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and peppers. We also enjoy sorrel and guavaberry harvests right around Christmas time.

  • With Spring comes flowers! and also longer days. We enjoy watching all of the fruit trees start to flower & have baby fruits. We switch from growing sweet greens & tomatoes to growing asian green varieties and eggplant. Spinach is often thriving this time of the year, and arugula too. Herbs enjoy the longer days but struggle as it gets closer to summer time.

  • As it heats up, we slow down and spend time in the shade. While the veggies patches get filled with cover crops, the fruit trees are in full abundance. Avocados, mangos, starfruit, jackfruit, breadfruit, ackee, guava & plumose, just to name a few. Eggplant & seasoning peppers often fare well with the hot long days. We sell as we grow, but its hard to make any promises this time of the year. We pray for rain, but not a hurricane.

Grateful for our beloved community!

  • Wonderful produce with a quality that cannot be found in grocery stores, and cheaper than the grocery stores as well! We love the family aspect of Sammy's farm and the fact that I can message when I don't know what things are or need to know how to use it! Love this place and will keep getting veggie boxes weekly!

  • I’ve been getting weekly produce from Tidal Roots Farm for the past couple years and am grateful for the love and care they put into what they grow. Their tomatoes are my favourite most flavourful tomatoes… and everything is organic! Happy customer :)

  • I would recommend Tidal Farms to anyone looking for fresh farm produce. Not only does Sam harvest some of the best tasting produce on the island, but she is such a pleasure to work with. I enjoy driving up to her farm just to get to chat a few minutes and be around her positive energy. You can see she cares about her clients and provides top of the line customer service. I'm a charter chef and every week receive compliments on the quality and beauty of her produce used in my meals. The edible flowers are also sure to make any plate look 5 star you serve. Overall I recommend working with Sam and experiencing this great farm with all it has to offer our community.

  • I have been buying fresh produce from Sam at Tidal Roots Farm for a couple of years now and I love it. It is beautiful, and freshly harvested on the day of purchase which ensures it is always as fresh as can be. As a charter yacht chef who has to have some provisions last a full week before I use it, that freshness is important. It is also wonderful to know exactly where my, and my client’s food comes from and it is a real pleasure to prepare and serve it to them, and to let them know it was locally grown and produced on Tortola. And organic to boot. It is always a joy to visit the farm and pick up my produce each time, and to share a few moments with Sam. She is reliable, easy to order from and to do business with. I can’t recommend Tidal Roots Farm highly enough.
